AMSTERDAM CRUISE SHIP REVIEW

The MS Amsterdam is the 3rd ship to bear the name of the Netherlands capital in all of the Holland-America-Line’s over 136 years of operation. Not just any ship is worthy of such a grand name, and the Amsterdam has proven herself one of the few ships that is deserves it. Built in the finest Italian shipyards, the sheer artistry of fine craftsmanship blends seamlessly with the latest in ship technology to make any trip on the Amsterdam a voyage to remember.

One of the largest and most famous pieces on the Amsterdam is the Planeto Astrolabium. This beautiful one of a kind sculpture is housed in the heart of a glorious three-story atrium where it showcases the beauty of our solar system amid lush greenery from around the world. The Planeto Astrolabium is not only a beautiful piece of artwork, it is also a functioning astrolabe that shows the locations of the constellations and where the planets are in real time. It also doubles as a global clock showing not only ship time but also the time all over the world as well.

Holland America Line’s – MS Amsterdam

Other beautiful art from the now retired MS Nieuw Amsterdam of 1938 also graces the MS Amsterdam. These beautiful art deco pieces are sure to delight the eye while simultaneously setting off the fine, streamlined décor of the ship. For those who would prefer more modern art, contemporary pieces by the noted maritime artist Stephen Card are available for viewing in all public spaces of the MS Amsterdam.

What if you just cannot wait to show your friends and family all the beautiful things you are finding on your MS Amsterdam cruise? Well, Holland America Line has you covered- just ask one of our Microsoft-trained “techsperts” and you will be sharing your vacation memories with your friends and family in no time.
